Marilyn Larson has been with Capitol Lien for 15 years! She works as an abstractor doing property research for our clients. We’re excited to feature Marilyn in our October Employee Spotlight!
What do you do at Capitol Lien?
I am an Abstractor.
What is the best part about your Capitol Lien career?
Meeting all the different people at the various counties that I work.
How did you get into this industry?
I started working in a loan department at First Federal Savings & Loan Association in 1974. Then I worked with an abstract and title company until I started working at Capitol Lien in 2008.
What is your favorite service/product we offer to our clients and why?
I like the different types of services that we use for each client.
What have you gained since working at Capitol Lien?
More experience in working with computers and various types of search engines in the multiple counties that we search.
What do you do in your free time?
I like to do crafts (knitting, crocheting, beadwork). I also like to cook and bake.
What was your first job?
Working at First Federal Savings and Loan Association in Willmar right after I graduated from the Vo Tech in Willmar in the Loan Department.
What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is anything chocolate.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I play with guns. Bob and I have been doing Cowboy Action Shooting for 15 years. We shoot pistols, rifles and shotguns at targets and dress up like cowboys and cowgirls. We shoot at our club in Kimball, MN, but there are clubs all over the state and country. We have built a small town with 10 stages to shoot at.
Do you have any pets?
We have 2 dogs, Lily who is 13 yrs, Ginger who is 4 yrs, 2 cats, Webbles who is 14 yrs and Dennis who is 4 yrs. We get our pets from the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter in Willmar. Also a 55 gallon tank with fish.
