One week removed, we look back on what was yet another wonderful SBA MN Lenders Conference. This year marked the 7th Annual SBA Lender’s Conference for Minnesota, which also marks the 7th year for Capitol Lien’s involvement with the group. We value our continued partnership with this great organization.
About SBA
The Small Business Administration strives to help Americans start, build and grow their businesses. It was established in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist, and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation. The Minnesota SBA has developed many small business loan and assistance programs, special outreach efforts and initiatives to aid and inform small businesses.
Success Stories
At the conference this year, we were lucky to hear from a few business owners themselves and learn about how the SBA has truly helped and made an impact on their business’s growth. One, in particular, is Urban Growler®, who has been named a 2019 Small Business of the Year. It was Deb Loch and Jill Pavlak’s dream of starting the first woman-owned brewery in Minnesota that kick-started their journey. In 2014 (after being denied funding form 12 banks) with the help of SBA Financing, Urban Growler® became a reality. You can read more about their story here.
Capitol Lien and SBA:
Capitol Lien has been part of the SBA MN Lender’s Conference since the beginning. It all started in 2012 when Melvin Boser of the Minnesota Chapter had the idea to put on a conference, he then had some conversations with our Marketing Manager at the time, Ryan Baker, about how that could look. He had gotten our information through some of the lenders who were focussing on new SBA initiatives and had heard we had experience in exhibiting and being an excellent resource to those in similar groups. From then on, our sponsorship, exhibit table, and due diligence presentations have been a constant for the group to depend on. Working with the Minnesota SBA office is nothing short of amazing. We can’t wait to continue our partnership for many more years to come.
