Let us introduce you to one of our newest employees, Joel Longsdorf. Joel has been on our team for almost 5 months now and is already making his presence known as a wonderful addition.
Q: What do you do at Capitol Lien?
A: I’m an Abstractor. I’m responsible for real estate research in WI and MN.
Q: What is the best part about your Capitol Lien Career?
A: I’m still new to Capitol Lien, but I love working remotely, and being trusted to accomplish my work without a whole lot of involved management. The fact that this type of independence is paired so effectively with supervisors (Rachel, in particular, in my case) and coworkers who are knowledgeable and easy to reach is quite an accomplishment for the company.
Q: How did you get into this industry?
A: Like many in research/title work, I kind of fell into it. The longer story involved a cousin working for a law firm and a series of strange interactions with a District Attorney. The short version is: I knew a girl who knew a guy who was looking for good help.
Q: What do you do in your free time?
A: I spend time with my girlfriend and take my very needy dog Scout on many walks. I also like to play guitar (poorly), play video games (a little better), and cook (pretty well, actually!).
Q: What was your first-ever job?
A: Shingling houses. Don’t miss much of it.
Q: What did you want to be when growing up?
A: A teacher or a lawyer.
Q: Where would your dream vacation be?
A: Anywhere that isn’t my house or a grocery store, after this year and change.
Q: What is your favorite meal/food?
A: It’s always changing, and sometimes depends on the weather. My all-time favorite would maybe be beef burgundy. The nice weather has me loving grilled teriyaki chicken and pineapple.
Q: What have you gained since working at Capitol Lien?
A: Confidence in my ability to adapt my skills to different areas and needs. Before working here, I had really only worked in a few limited locations in WI. Oh, and decent health insurance!
Q: What is your favorite service we offer to our clients and why?
A: I’m just dipping my toes into all the services we offer beyond real estate research, but until I am better acquainted with any of those offerings, I suppose I have to admit that really any of the searches and results we provide to clients seem really fantastic, from my end as a researcher, because of the uniformity of the reports and search packages, regardless of the actual details of every order. Coming from a very small company where everything we did was, more or less, created from scratch by whoever was doing it, I really appreciate the consistency.
