Years at Capitol Lien: 25 Years

  1. What’s a unique skill or perspective you bring to your role at Capitol Lien? I don’t know if this is unique or not, but when I read a description, I mentally draw it out. I’ve always been good at reading maps, so descriptions came pretty easily for me.
  2. Share a professional success story that you’re proud of. This was years ago, when I was updating a large number of abstracts. I don’t remember exactly what, but there were description issues on one of the abstracts I updated. When the abstract came back from the title opinion, it indicated that everything was in order. I remember thinking, do I say anything? I did end up speaking up and speaking to the attorney, and then he saw what I had seen. It ended up postponing the closing, which the realtor was pretty upset about. But the next day, he called and apologized, saying I had done the right thing. The attorney told my boss later that he was impressed. In the end, I was glad that I spoke up. It also saved us from having potential problems in the future.
  3. What’s your favorite part about collaborating with your team? The fact that it genuinely feels like a team, everybody has each other’s backs. That is really cool.
  4. What do you love most about your job and why? I enjoy putting puzzles together, and I also enjoy solving mysteries; every search feels like I’m putting a puzzle together or solving a mystery.
  5. What’s one tool or resource you couldn’t do your job without? Definitely a computer
  6. What do you love to do in your free time? Organize, decorate, and create
  7. What book or podcast has left a lasting impact on you? The Bible, I keep learning something new, and I enjoy learning new things.
  8. What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken, and what made it memorable? I flew out to Oregon in 2004 and stayed with my aunt and uncle for a number of days. They took me along the coast, and I got to walk on a beach, see the ocean, tour lighthouses, and we saw a large cheese factory. My favorite, however, was Crater Lake. That was breathtakingly beautiful. Also, their 6 kids, my cousins, and their families all lived in the area, and I got to visit them all. It was a fantastic experience.
  9. What’s your most-used emoji, and what does it say about you? The smiley face emoji. I smile a lot.
  10.  Do you have any pets? Yes, 2 cats, Charlotte, who is 14 years old, and Charlie, who is 1 year old.
