In our efforts to support small local businesses during this hard time, we want to highlight some of the businesses our employees own! We’ve got something brewing with this one. Let us introduce you to U4ic Brewing!
U4ic (euphoric) Brewing was established in 2012 by our talented Bonnie Luskey and her husband Jeff Luskey. After many years of homebrewing as a hobby, they decided to make their dreams of commercial brewing a reality. They began looking for a building and realized they didn’t need to look much further than their very own backyard. Located in Blakeley, Minnesota, U4ic started brewing greatness!
With 24 taps, all brewed in house, there is plenty to choose from so everyone can find something they like. They even have their own root beer, ‘Patrick’s Honeypot Root Beer’ (many say it is better than the larger craft root beer), named after their son Patrick who has special needs. They hope to someday be able to donate all of the profits to benefit local families of children with disabilities.
Another unique aspect about this brewery is that they also have a great in-house food truck available to patrons! MN WingKing is known for some awesome burgers and wings. You’ll never have to worry about getting something to eat along with your craft brews!
We asked Bonnie what her favorite part about owning and working at a brewery was. “Our favorite part is talking with customers and watching them enjoy our wares. We are in a unique area in the Minnesota River Valley, so if our customers haven’t been to our brewery before, it’s fun to hear how they enjoyed their scenic drive to get here,” she said and added that working at a brewery is rewarding, but so much hard work! Her one tip of advice is, “Be prepared to work harder than you’ve ever worked.” Thankfully, Bonnie and her husband don’t do it alone! Jeff’s brother Dave is a partner in the business. Also, their son Tucker runs Sales and Marketing, while their daughter Sara designs packaging. Each of them takes turns working in the taproom. Daughter-in-law, Erica Luskey, works in the taproom as well, and even better, she’s also a Capitol Lien employee!
They are definitely brewing excellence at U4ic, within the next few years they hope to be as well known as any of the larger craft breweries in the metro area. Let’s help them achieve that goal!
