May Spotlight – Jess Bosio

We’re excited to feature Jess in our May Employee Spotlight!

Name: Jess Bosio

Job Title: Abstractor

Years at Capitol Lien: 1 year 5 months

  1. What’s a unique skill or perspective you bring to your role at Capitol Lien?

Prior to joining Capitol Lien, I worked at a title company as an Abstractor and a licensed Wisconsin Title Examiner. I feel that having the perspective of an examiner allows me to view our research as our client does, enabling me to provide the best service possible.

  1. Share a professional success story that you’re proud of OR What’s the most challenging project you’ve tackled, and how did you overcome it?

At my previous job at the title company, I was abruptly thrown into the role of sole abstractor AND title examiner at one of our locations just a week after becoming a licensed abstractor. I had limited experience examining files at that point. Not only that, but I was suddenly in charge of 2 of my coworkers. I dove right in and never looked back, and I was pretty successful. Looking back, I believe that was the best way for me to learn and become a better abstractor and examiner.

  1. What’s your favorite part about collaborating with your team?

My favorite part of collaborating with my team is the camaraderie and the fun conversations. I love how everyone is willing to jump in and help each other out, even if it’s just a little pep talk or encouragement. The atmosphere feels just like it would working in an office, even though I’m at home.

  1. What do you love most about your job and why?

What I love most about my job is the ability to work from home. This allows me to be more present in my kids’ lives. I live in a very rural area, so I would otherwise have a pretty long commute. This allows me to work on household chores and laundry over lunch while also taking part in their school activities and being able to be home for dinner with them every night.

  1. What’s one tool or resource you couldn’t do your job without?

My coworkers! There are some days when I am second-guessing myself or just need a little encouragement, and they are always there to help out.

  1. What do you love to do in your free time?

Most of my “free time” is taken up by my kids, but I absolutely love going to their sporting events and going on fun little adventures with them. Some day, when my free time is my own again, I plan to take a lot of naps to catch up on the sleep I’ve missed out on since my kids were born, go on fun day trips, and go to as many thrift stores as I can.

  1. If you won the lottery tomorrow, what’s the first thing you’d do?

Pay off my mortgage and student loans!

  1. What’s a small, everyday thing that brings you joy?

A crisp Diet Coke on ice in my Simple Modern tumbler. And yes, it HAS to be the Simple Modern tumbler with just the right amount of ice.

  1. What’s your favorite holiday, and how do you usually celebrate it?

Memorial Day! It always falls around my birthday, it is the start of summer, and it is the one holiday we actually spend with family since none of them live close by. Every year, we go up to Michigan’s U.P., where I am from, and visit my family.

  1. What’s your most-used emoji, and what does it say about you?

The rolling laughing face. I guess it probably says that I think I’m a lot funnier than I actually am. (Or at least that’s what my teenage daughter would say!)
