September Spotlight – Nikki Laleman

Job Title: Abstractor

Time at Capitol Lien: Almost 6 months

1. What’s a unique skill or perspective you bring to your role at Capitol Lien? I have over 14 years of experience in Mortgage, Appraisal QC and Risk and Operations Management. I’ve already learned a lot from my time at Capitol Lien as an Abstractor that would have been so helpful in my prior roles!
2. What’s your favorite part about collaborating with your team? EVERYONE has been so nice and welcoming! I have never felt like I couldn’t ask any questions of any of my team members (and being new, I have a lot of questions)! My team is extremely knowledgeable and down-to-earth. It’s a great fit!
3. What do you love most about your job and why? While I do enjoy digging into property records and learning something new every   day, 100% the best thing about this job is the people!
4. What’s one tool or resource you couldn’t do your job without? Aside from the internet, it’s Connect. As a relatively new employee at Capitol Lien, I can tell you it’s incredibly user-friendly. Big shout-out to the team that developed it!
5. What do you love to do in your free time? When not chasing my kids to whatever sport they are playing that season, I love trying new crafts, hanging with friends, and watching reality shows and my favorite movies.
6. If you won the lottery tomorrow, what’s the first thing you’d do? Book a flight!
7. What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken, and what made it memorable? 1) Went on a cruise to the Virgin Islands 2) We rented a house boat for a week up in Voyageurs National Park. I guess I love water!
8. What’s your most-used emoji, and what does it say about you? 🙄 I think it means someday my eyes are going to get stuck like that. 
9. Do you have any pets? We have a cat named Cece.
