August Employee Spotlight: LeAnn Mix

LeAnn Mix

Licensed Abstractor

LeAnn Mix has been with Capitol Lien for 16 years! She works as a licensed abstractor doing property research for our clients. We’re excited to feature LeAnn in our August Employee Spotlight!

What do you do at Capitol Lien?

I am a Licensed Abstractor assigned to 8 counties in southern Minnesota. I do travel
to Faribault County for research on a weekly basis. I was hired in 2006 and
have worked from home since 2015.

What is the best part about your Capitol Lien career?

The emotional value that comes from bringing forth quality research and
providing outstanding service to Capitol Lien and the clients. It is the
exceptional knowledge of my coworkers and management team that has
helped me develop my skills to do well in this industry. It is a great sense of
pride when I notice a home or a property in the Martin County community that I
remember doing the title research for.

How did you get into this industry?

The initial job opening was networked through a past employee that knew my
husband. Back in November of 2006 I was hired as a part time receptionist in
the downtown Fairmont Minnesota Abstract building. In fact, I was in the final
month of pregnancy with my daughter BreAnna when I got hired with the
company. Within a few months I was advanced to full time employment and
then fully trained in research within that same year. From the years 2008 –
2012 I was also trained and assisted the closing department of the Minnesota
Abstract side of the business and still performing my research responsibilities
for Capitol Lien. In 2014 I joyfully passed the test for the Abstract License for
the state of Minnesota.

What is your favorite service/product we offer to our clients and why?

The current owner real estate search would be my favorite service. Those can
be completed efficiently and with a decent profit to time ratio.

What have you gained since working at Capitol Lien?

The ability to meet the needs of others is most valuable. It is a blessing to
have a position that carries a high level of integrity. I have learned to manage
my time well and adapt to change. I have to say that 2023 has been a profound
year of changes with Capitol Lien.

What do you do in your free time?

When the weather is nice, I love to spend time outside with my family and dogs. I love to
go on walks and go boating with the family.

Where would your dream vacation be?

A dream vacation for me would be to travel somewhere warm for a week in the middle of
a Minnesota winter.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

Most recently my husband Jason retired from his active-duty Army career, with a total of
31 years of service. It is a huge blessing for our family to have him home now and a
transition that we are all embracing. I was recognized last year by the State of
Minnesota Military Community and given the Molly Pitcher Award for faithful service
supporting the Artillery Community and military families for several years.

Do you have any pets?

We have two female house dogs Stella, who is 11 years old and Halo who is 2 years old.
They are both Pudelpointers.

What is your favorite quote?

“Love your family, work super hard, live your passion.”
